About the Role

The Field Engineer supports the planning, coordination and execution of construction activities for large-scale and complex renewable energy construction projects. This role partners with project management to complete field inspections, quality control, documentation and technical problem solving to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with project specifications. 

This position is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates and early career professionals to gain hands-on experience in engineering, construction operations, project management and renewable energy development. 

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Promote and follow JMS safety standards, prioritizing and demonstrating safe behavior
  • Review project drawings, specifications and technical documents to develop an understanding of project requirements
  • Survey project sites, evaluate potential challenges and identify site requirements based on job needs and client specifications
  • Perform field inspections to verify work is completed according to project specifications, quality standards and approved drawings
  • Responsible for ongoing maintenance of site equipment and machinery
  • Conduct field tests, identify and provide solutions for onsite problems that may arise throughout the project lifecycle
  • Monitor construction progress and communicate schedule, quality or technical concerns to project leadership
  • Provides technical support and guidance to onsite teams
  • Support quality control activities, including documentation, inspections, testing and punch list management
  • Serve as the field representative, collaborating with the Field Quality Manager and site management to ensure compliance with QA/QC requirements, scope of the project, and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Track and document materials, deliveries and inventory received on-site
  • Participate in Plan of Day (POD) meetings, including preparing materials and communicating information across teams as needed
  • Maintain accurate and details project records, reports, daily logs field documentation
  • Assist with Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and project closeout documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field preferred. May substitute equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years of experience as an EPC Field Engineer
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, preferred.
  • Certified EPC Project Manager (CEPC), preferred.

 

Responsibilities

  • Strong client-facing and internal communications and interpersonal skills. 
  • Working knowledge of the concept of Project Management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and industry standard software and tools (ProCore, NetSuite, Viewpoint etc)
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to read, interpret and analyze blueprints and other technical documents
  • Understanding of construction safety and QA/QC standards and best practices
  • Advanced problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with and provide leadership to a diverse team.

Work Environment:

  • This position involves both office-based tasks and on-site duties 
  • When working at a job site this role may be exposed to site conditions such as hot or cold temperatures, outdoor elements, dust, fumes and loud noises
  • On-site work requires adherence to safety regulations and Company policies 
  • This role may include prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and/or working at a computer
